The story of Bapak Siem Thiam Hie and Ibu Rakhmat Sulistio began when the couple operated a dairy farm called Melkrey, at the time the largest in Ambarawa, Kapubaten Semarang, Jawa Tengah. In 1930, the couple opened a bakery called Roti Muncul. In the same year, Ibu Rakhmat Sulistio began formulating the jamu now known as Tolak Angin.
