The story of Bapak Siem Thiam Hie and Ibu Rakhmat Sulistio began when the couple operated a dairy farm called Melkrey, at the time the largest in Ambarawa, Kapubaten Semarang, Jawa Tengah. In 1930, the couple opened a bakery called Roti Muncul. In the same year, Ibu Rakhmat Sulistio began formulating the jamu now known as Tolak Angin. With Ibu Rakhmat’s expertise in making jamu and handling spices, the couple decided to open a jamu stall in Yogyakarta. Sido Muncul was born in 1975 (Sido Muncul means literally “Wish Come True”). Sido Muncul Fatraper is a supplement that helps reduce body fat.
Chitosan, the main ingredient here, is a dietary supplement derived from chitin, a substance found in the shells of crustaceans like shrimp, crab, and lobster. Chitin has the ability to bind to dietary fat in the digestive tract, preventing its absorption by the body.
The mechanism of action of chitosan is based on its ability to form a gel-like substance in the stomach when it comes into contact with dietary fats. This gel binds to fat molecules, creating larger complexes that are too large to be absorbed through the intestinal walls. As a result, the fat passes through the digestive system without being absorbed, potentially reducing the number of calories the body absorbs from dietary fat.
