Carrot cake has an interesting history, dating back to World War II, when sugar was rationed, and bakers used naturally sweet carrots as a clever substitute. Over time, it evolved into the rich, spiced dessert we know today, celebrated for its moist texture and warm, comforting flavors.
Our version of this classic takes things up a notch with a tropical twist, right here in Bali. We use fresh, naturally sweet carrots and only the best local ingredients, think Bali sea salt, a hint of coconut oil for that extra depth, and a blend of cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove that brings warmth with every bite. Cashews add a subtle creaminess and a bit of crunch, while cane sugar and a dash of vanilla give it just the right amount of sweetness, all without any artificial flavors.
To finish, our frosting is a dreamy blend of cream cheese, a hint of lime for a fresh, tropical zing, and whipped cream. It’s light, smooth, and complements the cake’s natural sweetness perfectly.
Our carrot cake is ideal on its own, but for an extra touch, pair it with a spiced chai or a robust coffee. If you’re in the mood to indulge, try it chilled on a hot afternoon for a refreshing treat, or serve it with a side of tropical fruit to add a little brightness. Our carrot cake is all about capturing the essence of Bali in a dessert that’s wholesome, delicious, and undeniably satisfying. Whether you’re new to carrot cake or a longtime fan, this one promises to leave you wanting just one more slice!
A word about our bakers!
In the heart of our bustling island, there exists a team of very special individuals who have dedicated themselves to the art of baking and helped our bakery rise to where it stands now, since 1994. These talented bakers, from all around Indonesia, including Bali, have become an integral part of Bali Buda family, bringing smiles to countless faces with their breads, cakes and treats!
Each day, as the sun rises, these diligent local bakers gather in our bakery, ready to embark on their craft. With sleeves rolled up and flour-dusted hands, they pour their passion into every loaf of bread and every pie they make. For almost three decades, these Indonesian bakers have poured their hearts into all the beautiful products we serve and sell to you, everyday. From the crack of dawn to late into the night, their hands are kneading dough, so our bakeries can be supplied with fresh bread as soon as our doors open.
As we reflect on these past 3 decades, we are filled with gratitude for the spirit and unwavering dedication of our Indonesian bakers. Their tireless efforts have brought sweetness and delight to countless moments of our lives, from daily breakfast rituals to special occasions and milestones.
