Chickpeas also called garbanzo beans, are legumes. Ours are imported from United States, even though they have been grown and eaten in Middle Eastern countries for thousands of years.
Chickpeas boast an impressive nutritional profile. They contain a moderate number of calories, providing 269 per cup (164 grams). Approximately 67% of these calories come from carbs, while the rest comes from protein and fat. Chickpeas also provide a variety of vitamins and minerals, as well as a decent amount of fiber and protein.
You can roast them and eat them as a snack, or just boil them and serve with vegetables and/or rice. They do particularly well in curries too! You can cook them up in soups and stews, toss them into salads for added texture and protein, or roast them for a crunchy snack that’s downright addictive.
If you like hummus, we make our own and have you sorted here and here.
But wait, there’s more! Chickpeas also shine in dishes like falafel—deep-fried patties made from ground chickpeas and spices—or as a protein-packed addition to curries and stir-fries. Oh, and don’t forget about desserts! Chickpea flour can be used to make delectable sweets like chickpea flour cookies or even chickpea brownies.
Whether you’re a vegan seeking a plant-based protein source, a food enthusiast exploring diverse cuisines, or someone looking to add nutritious and tasty ingredients to your meals, our chickpeas are a pantry essential. So, why not grab a bag, get creative in the kitchen, and experience the versatility and nutritional benefits these humble legumes bring to your table?
